Visiting winery tasting rooms

Updated: Aug 15, 2018

In order to do justice to the many wineries we have visited, I will be blogging each upon my return home so I can marry digital camera photos with phone photos, plus use a computer.

In the meantime, Madam Ambassador suggested a short blog on tasting room etiquette. First and foremost, be nice. In the tasting room, you might be talking to an employee or the owner and you never know which.

Second, ask questions. Most tasting room attendants or owners love to share history, knowledge and wine info. You never know what you will learn. On this trip I have heard history, winery suggestions, dining suggestions and much more.

Third, leave a tip. Your attendant is just like the server in a restaurant. If they have been talkative, reward them!

Lastly, try one wine that you normally would not. It broadens your palate and might surprise you!

Salute!
